Michigan Association of Clubhouses By-Laws

ARTICLE 1: NAME
The name of this body shall be the Michigan Association of Clubhouses, here after referred to as the MAC. Upon approval, these bylaws will become the operative guidelines for the MAC.
ARTICLE 2: MISSION
The Michigan Association of Clubhouses will facilitate the growth and enhancement of ICCD Standards-based Clubhouse programs by supporting people with mental illness to improve their lives.
ARTICLE 3: JURISDICTION
The territory for this association's jurisdiction is the State of Michigan.
ARTICLE 4: MEMBERSHIP
Membership is open to all clubhouses in the State of Michigan who:
- Follow the International Clubhouse Standards.
- Regularly attend MAC meetings.
- Pay annual dues. MAC membership dues are due October 1st of each year, for the sole purpose of carrying out the mission and business of the MAC.
ARTICLE 5: MEETINGS
The MAC will meet bi-monthly at least six times per year; in February, April, June, August, October and December Committees may meet during the evening prior the general meeting, and reports will be included in the agenda. The site for three of the general membership meetings will be rotated among the four quadrants of the state: north (including the Upper Peninsula); central, southeast and southwest, which will be held in February, June and October. The other three meetings will be held in a central location in April, August and December. Meeting dates and locations will be planned in yearly increments, scheduled at the December general membership meetings. Special meetings may be called at any time by the MAC, but all clubhouses must receive a written notice at least two weeks prior to the meeting. Host Clubhouses will write meeting minutes and forward them to the Meetings Committee within one month. These minutes are to be approved or amended at the next regularly scheduled MAC Meeting. A meeting notice, agenda, and minutes from the last meeting will be distributed by the Meetings Committee in consultation with any host clubhouse and mailed to all MAC member clubhouses at least two weeks before the meeting. The agenda may be amended at the upcoming meeting.
ARTICLE 6: COMMITTEES
The chair clubhouses of the following coordination committees serve two-year terms. The chair clubhouses of the Membership and Meetings Committees will be determined at the October meeting of years ending in even numbers. The chair clubhouses of the Training and Website committee will be determined at the October meeting of years ending in odd numbers. The roles and responsibilities of all MAC committees are listed in Article 6 of these bylaws.
Membership: Responsible for the collection of membership dues, maintenance of checking account, clubhouse outreach and producing an annual MAC directory and maintenance of a clubhouse e-mail list.
Meetings: Responsible for the coordination and planning of MAC meetings. This includes coordinating with host clubhouses regarding facilitation, accommodations, and meeting materials, as described Article 5 of these bylaws. Facilitating the review and changes of bylaws is also the responsibility of the Meetings Committee
Training: Responsible for securing funding to provide training for member clubhouses through workshops and conferences. Topics and trainers are to be determined at general MAC meetings.
Website: Responsible for maintaining the Michigan Association of Clubhouses website. All content on the website including associated links, will be reviewed and decided upon by any and all MAC member clubhouses choosing to participate in the Website Committee meetings, which may be virtual or in-person. The chair clubhouse will notify all MAC member clubhouses of upcoming Website Committee meetings including, date, time, topic(s), and content suggestions being reviewed, by e-mail. Any MAC member clubhouse may make content suggestions, but each clubhouse must reach consensus on suggestions within their club before submitting them to the committee chair through a single contact.
